PURPOSE: A device is provided to read or record a data signal from different information transferring layers of an optical recorder at the same time. CONSTITUTION: Each optical unit(91,92) contains laser diodes(11,12), translucent mirrors(19,29), detector elements(81,82). A polarizing beam splitter(5) is combined with a second partial beam(32) via a collimating lens(28), a first partial beam and a beam controller(22). The combined beam is faced to an object lens(6) by a mirror(14) and a focus is formed on an information transferring layers(71,72) by the object lens. A focus forming lens(6) is moved by an operator according to a double arrow(63). Laser diodes(11,12) are orientated to be vertically polarized when the partial beams(31,32) are arrived in the polarizing beam splitter(5). The collimating lens(28) is moved by the operator via the double arrow(65). The partial beam(32) is displaced toward an axial direction and is converged or diffused by the collimating lens(28). Thereby, the device reads or records more than two data tracks having different information transferring layers at the same time.
