A method of making secure and monitoring access toinformation from a computer platform having amicrocomputer, the method being characterized in that itconsists: [err] in producing at least one non-rewritable recordingmedium on which information such as data and/orapplications is recorded, together with operatingsoftware for said information; [err] in delivering a portable medium of the smart cardtype to each user, said medium having recorded thereoninformation concerning the rights assigned for using theinformation on the recording medium; [err] in inserting a recording medium and a portablemedium in readers fitted to the computer platform; * in configuring or transforming the computerplatform of an authorized user into a secure workstationand in causing the computer platform to perform securityfunctions on the basis of parameters recorded on therecording medium, the portable medium, and the computerplatform; [err] in loading the operating software from therecording medium into the computer platform, once all ofthe security functions have been satisfied; and [err] in enabling the information stored on therecording medium to be used within the limits of therights acquired by the authorized user.
