The device has a clamp (13) with a U-shaped clamp element (7) securing the central element (3) of the optical cable (1), in cooperation with a sliding sleeve (8), fitted around the outside of the clamp element. The clamp element is secured to a fixing element (6) for the clamp via an intermediate element (5). The fixing element is used to secure the clamp to a fixing (11), clamped to the cable end (4) and to a fixing plate (12). The opening width of the U-shaped clamp element is adjusted to match the dia. of the optical cable central element, with a lipped edge (16) at the end of one arm bent inwards towards the central element.
