A new method for the separation of carbonaceous mesophase. A new separation process of yanisótropa isotropic phase (mesophase) of tars, by hot filtration. It is based on the differences in softening points of the two phases, using an intermediate temperature between the two softening points. Thus, a system that behaves like a solid suspended in a viscous liquid, which enables separation of the two phases is configured by simple filtration. Applications: It has been used for producing carbon fibers.
