Polyurethanes ADHESIVAS aqueous dispersions anionic PRESENTED THERMAL RESISTANCE HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURE ACTIVATION, EVEN WHEN USED WITHOUT ADDING A crosslinker. Polyurethane is the reaction product WATER AND A polyurethane prepolymer terminated by an isocyanate. The polyurethane prepolymer is the product of reaction of a polyol component and a component DIISOCYANATE INCLUDING Polyol component: A sulfonated polyester polyol, A hydroxycarboxylic acid of formula (HO) SUB, X} R (COOH) SUB, Y} WHERE ( R) represents a hydrocarbon radical linear or branched alkyl containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and x and y represent values from 1 to 3, and optionally, an aliphatic diol LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT A MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF BETWEEN 60 AND 400, a polyol NO sulfonated diisocyanate component and being selected from the group CONSISTING aromatic diisocyanates, isophorone diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate, and mixtures thereof. Dispersions are prepared by admixing Prepolymer and water at a temperature of at least 60 (degrees) C for a sufficient time for the isocyanate groups to react COMPLETELY WITH WATER IN REACTION of Auto, typically at least 0.5 hour. Dispersions of the invention provide ADHESIVAS UNIONS OF HIGHEST ENDURANCE prepolymer dispersions IDENTICAL WITH WIDESPREAD a chain extender diamine, instead of water, after the dispersion. LA adhesive composition can also be modified to include a polymer or copolymer dispersed monomer ethylenic unsaturation. Such compositions may be obtained PREPARING THE PRESENCE OF POLIURETANO sulfonated ethylenic unsaturation monomer AND THEN subjecting the mixture to free radical polymerization.
