Mercaptan odors in a thiophosphate compound orformulation are suppressed by treatment of the compoundduring preparation of the formulation with treatment agentsselected from iodine, and alkali and alkaline earth metalhydroxides, hypochlorites and iodates. Depending on theparticular agent and method of treatment used, the agent andany reaction products resulting from the treatment may beeither removed from the thiophosphate or retained with it inthe final formulation.
