METHOD AND CIRCUIT ARRANGEMENT FOR FORWARDING MESSAGE PACKETS VIA PACKET SWITCHING EQUIPMENT, THE MESSAGE PACKETS BEING TRANSMITTED ON OFFERING TRUNKS

Message packets are forwarded via a packet switchingequipment which comprises at least two redundant switchingmatrices to serving ports connected thereto, the message packetscomprising a packet header identifying a respective virtualconnection and being transmitted on offering trunks according toan asynchronous transmission method during the course of virtualconnections. A message packet group having a plurality ofidentical message packets corresponding in number to theplurality of redundant switching matrices by multiplication foreach of the message packets transmitted on one of the offeringtrunks during the course of a virtual connection. An identicalauxiliary identifier that changes for successive message packetgroups is thereby attached to each of the message packets of amessage packet group. The message packets of a message packetgroup are subsequently separately transmitted via the redundantswitching matrices in the direction toward the serving portconsidered for the respective virtual connection. After such atransmission, only one of the message packets of a message packetgroup is forwarded to the serving port with reference to theauxiliary identifier respectively attached to the messagepackets.
