AUTOMATED TAXABLE TRANSACTION REPORTING/COLLECTION SYSTEM

An automated transaction tax reporting/collection system. The system includesindividual pointof sale terminals disposed at each remote vendor location. The point of saleterminals are networked toa central computer, preferably via a plurality of intermediate data collectionsub-stations. Each terminalincludes means for inputting and storing data regarding taxable transactions,as well as for storing datareflecting the tax accrued on each transaction. This stored data is collectedon a periodic, rotating basisby the corresponding data collection sub-station according to control signalsgenerated by the centralcomputer. All of the collected data is ultimately transmitted to the centralcomputer, which is operativeto generate reports reflecting the transaction tax due from each remote vendorlocation. These reportsmay then be sent to the taxing authority, the individual merchants, and/or toother taxing authorities, suchas the federal government. Preferably, each point of sale terminal alsoincludes a printer which prints anofficial tax receipt for each transaction recorded.
