A method and apparatus for closing an opening in pressureapplications includes a pressure containing body having anexterior surface. A passage extends from an interior of thebody to the exterior surface. A plug retaining seat ispositioned around a periphery of the passage recessed from theexterior surface. A locking member retaining channel extendsacross the opening. A plug carrying a seal engages the plugretaining seat. A locking member is confined within andaxially slidable along the channel to overlie the plug. Theoverlying locking member prevents pressure within the body fromdislodging the plug from the plug retaining seat.
