There is disclosed human homologues of the UNC-53 protein of C. elegans andcDNA sequences coding for said homologues or functional equivalents thereof.The invention also relates to processes for identifying compounds whichcontrol cell behaviour, compounds identified and pharmaceutical compositionscontaining them in addition to processes and assays for identifying diseasestates in which said gene or protein is dysfunctional.
