A method of generating a temperature-dependent signal for the correction oftemperatureeffects on a fibre optic gyroscope which comprises at least one 3x3 coupler, asemiconductorlight source and a monitor diode for recording the radiation output of thesemiconductor lightsource, wherein the output signal of the monitor diode (D3, D4) is fed to acontroller (R), thecontroller (R) controls the injection current of the semiconductor lightsource (L) in such away that the output signal of the monitor diode (D3, D4) is constant, and asignal [I(T)] whichis proportional to the injection current is formed for the correction oftemperature effects.
