Novel polymer thickening agents and uses thereof particularly in printing pastesfor textiles and in cosmetics

The invention concerns compositions containing vinyl synthetic polymers or copolymers with dry particle size ranging between about 0.2 and 0.6 microns, preferably between 0.2 and 0.4 or 0.3 microns, in the form of an invert emulsion obtained by oil emulsion polymerisation, or a dispersion in an aqueous medium, generally water. The quality of the thickening agent (in particular, resolution in the application of printing paste while preserving a high colour yield) is improved. The invention is useful as thickeners, and more particularly as bodying agents for printing pastes, in particular for textiles, specially in pigmentary printing processes but also for printing processes using the so-called fixed-and-washed technique in particular, in cosmetics and other uses of thickening agents.
