A piperidine compound of formula (I), wherein R?1 and R2¿ are the same or different and each independently represents an alkyl or C¿3?-C5 cycloalkyl group; R?3¿ represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, C¿3?-C5 cycloalkyl, alkanoyl or C3-C5 cycloalkyl-carbonyl group; R?4¿ represents a hydroxy group and R5 represents a hydrogen atom or R?4 and R5¿ together form a covalent bond; X?1 and X2¿ are the same or different and each independently represents a hydrogen or halogen atom; Y?1 and Y2¿ each represents a hydrogen atom or together represent a methylene, ethylene or ethenylene group; except when R?1 and R2¿ are a methyl group, R3 is a hydrogen atom, R4 is a hydroxy group, X?1 and X2¿ are both fluorine atoms and Y?1 and Y2¿ are both hydrogen atoms; and salts thereof; processes for their preparation, compositions containing them and their use in the population control of rodents and other vertebrate pests.
