The invention relates to a reinforcing fiber which is provided for reinforcing steel fiber concrete and which is comprised of steel wire having a round cross section. The inventive fiber has an essentially straight middle section (2). End anchorings provided in the form of short, elevated end sections (3, 4) are connected to the ends of said middle section. In addition, said fiber is provided, in an at least partial manner, with a ribbing which comprises notches (5) that run perpendicular to the longitudinal extension. In order to improve the anchoring in concrete using such a reinforcing fiber, the invention provides that only the middle section (2) comprises notches (5).
