Oscillation damping devices for turbogenerators in gas and/or steam power stations are used to reduce the power oscillations which occur. A device of this type can be designed based on a model. According to the invention, a physical linear model is used and a differentiating effect is taken into account when designing the device in order to improve its damping characteristics. This ensures that the output signal of the oscillation damping device is zero in a steady state.
