To establish an interface between a program (161, 162) conforming to the distributed object specifications and a program (111, 121-123) not conforming to the distributed object specifications, data of the program conforming to the distributed object specifications is converted into data of a not conforming to the distributed object specifications. For this purpose, a cooperation method makes a program not conforming to the distributed object specifications and an object in a distributed object environment cooperate with each other. The method includes the steps of issuing an event (600) not conforming to the distributed object specifications from a program not conforming to the distributed object specifications (F1), converting the event not conforming to the distributed object specifications into an event (500) conforming to the distributed object specifications and issuing the event (F2, 204), and passing the event conforming to the distributed object specifications to an object in the distributed object environment (F2, 204).
