The present invention provides an E. coli gene comprising a stress-activated protein kinase (hereinafter, abbreviated as 'SAPKβ') gene, which is one of representative mitogen-activated protein kinase present in higher animal cells. An expression vector and a method for mass production of SAPKβ in E. coli using the same. More specifically, a recombinant expression vector comprising the SAPKβ gene and E. coli transformed with the vector are cultured at low temperature to express a large amount of SAPKβ and then affinity. The present invention relates to a method for preparing activated water-soluble SAPKβ with high purity by purification by chromatography. The SAPKβ prepared in the present invention may be useful for developing inhibitors capable of inhibiting inflammation as well as proteins for analysis of tertiary structures by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
