A noise suppressing circuit for suppressing periodic interference components of a communication signal and a method thereof

The noise suppressor and its method suppresses the periodic noise component of the communication signal. The period of the periodic noise component of the communication signal correlates the communication signal with the communication signal delayed by various delay amounts. As soon as the period of the noise component portion is determined, a periodic signal indicating the corresponding periodicity is generated and added from the communication signal. The composite differential signal forms a noise suppression communication signal. When implemented in a radiotelephone device, the background noise formed by the engine sound caused by the driving engine of the vehicle in which the radiotelephone device operates can be suppressed during operation of the noise suppressor.
