PURPOSE: A method of inhibiting reactivity of carbon dioxide with fine coal briquette by coating bentonite on the surface of fine coal briquette is provided which can reuse fine coal in a corex process. CONSTITUTION: Fine coal briquette is dipped in 5-30 weight% of bentonite suspension and heated by a hot blast. For an example, a modified experimental electric furnace consisted of a heating source(1)(Kanthal super 33), an alumina reactor(2)(I.D.:100 mm. O.D.:110 mm) and a load cell(3) for measuring a weight change during reaction is used to examine the effect of a surface coater influencing the reactivity of CO2 with fine coal briquette under the same conditions, controlled within a plus or minus 2C of a laying temperature by a PID controller and heated to 1,200C in supplying nitrogen. Briquette is charged into the reactor when the temperature of the reactor reaches 1,200C and nitrogen is supplied to the reactor from the bottom of the reactor. Nitrogen is substituted to carbon dioxide by pouring CO2 at a speed of 5 ml/min. The effect of fine coal briquette on reactivity of CO2 is shown in graph 2.
