PURPOSE: Dimethyl disulfide(DMDS) composition containing a deodorant is provided which facilitate the removal of methyl mercaptan(MM) and dimethyl sulfide(DMS) together, without affecting the dimethyl sulfide present in the dimethyl disulfide. CONSTITUTION: The DMDS-based composition comprises 95wt.% or more of DMDS, less than 500wt.ppm of MM, less than 100wt.ppm of DMS and 1wt.% or less of at least one deodorant. Preferably, the deodorant includes an ester of the formula I. In the formula I, R¬1 represents a radical containing optionally, unsaturated, linear or branched hydrocarbon having 1¯4 of carbon atom, R¬2 represents a radical containing optionally, unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbon having 2¯8 of carbon atom. The compounds of the formula I include for example, isoamyl acetate, 2-methyl butyrate, isoamyl butyrate, benzyl acetate and mixtures thereof and are preferably used the amount of 0.1¯0.5wt% in the composition.
