PURPOSE: Title compound to color material is prepared by a simple and environmental affinitive method. CONSTITUTION: 1 Mole of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride and more than 2 mole of monomethyl amine are reacted at 50-200 degree C in more than 3 mole of H2O, followed by distillation of non-reacted monomethyl amine adding surfactant. Obtained crude pigment is wet-grounded for 10- 45 minutes in aqueous or aqueous-organic medium, and separated the pigment. Thus, 150 parts of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride, 15 parts of 50 % aqueous resin soap and 249.5 parts of 40 5 aqueous monomethyl amine are mixed at 25 degree C in 1,350 parts of H2O. The compound is stirred at boiling point for 2 hours, followed by addition of 7.5 parts of ammonium chloride and 328 parts of H2O, and distilled to give 1,339.7 parts of the crude pigment suspension. The 80.8 parts of suspension is ground with 19.2 parts of H2O to give 9.6 parts of the pigment.
