PURPOSE: A method for preparing a polymer miscible with a waste polystyrene resin and preparation method of a paint binder using the waste polystyrene resin are provided which can produce the paint binder at ordinary temperatures without a high-temperature heat treatment and reduce environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: A preparation method of a polymer miscible with a waste polystyrene resin comprises (a)preparing a first solution by reacting 8.6 3% of aliphatic acid, 7.8 3% of glycerine, 4.1 3% of penta, 11 3% of phthalic anhydride until an acidic value becomes from 10 to 13; (b)preparing a second solution by mixing the first solution with 18.6 3% of xylene; (c)preparing a third solution by reacting the second solution with 28.6 3% of styrene monomer, 0.4 3% of ditetrabutyl peroxide, 0.3 3% of benzoic peroxide; (d)diluting the third solution with 20.6 3% of xylene. Also described is a method for preparing a paint binder using the waste expanded polystyrene resin.
