PURPOSE: A break reading rule considering air consumption of syllable in Korean corpus-based speech synthesizing system is to enhance the natural when reading sentence using a corpus-based speech synthesizing system. CONSTITUTION: A break reading rule uses a weighting syllable number considering the air consumption upon counting the number of syllables in a read sentence. To determine the weight value of the air consumption, a database extracting the break reading rule from a voice/text corpus comprising a labeling information of a unit of syllable. The database includes a text, a speech piece unit of a hearing experimental result, and various parameters. Next, a feedback equation predicting the break reading is modeled using a linear feedback system. The break reading that is a targeted variable has a value of 1 or 0. Next, six weighting values are decided using a minimum square system and the decided six weighting values are stored at a weighting value database.
