METHOD FOR ASSIGNING SOURCE ADDRESS OF INTERNET PROTOCOL PACKET IN ROUTER

PURPOSE: A method for assigning source address of internet protocol packet in a router is provided to connect users of the same LAN system with Internet and Intranet simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: A DAT(Dynamic Address Translation) table including ID to the sub network consisting of Intranet and default IP address for Internet connection, is formed. A network ID is obtained from a destination address of private IP packet to be transmitted(602). A network ID is obtained in the destination IP address read from the DAT table(603). The network ID of the private IP packet and DAT table are compared(604). If agreed, the source address of the packet to be transmitted, is assigned to the IP address assigned in the Intranet(608). If not agreed, the source address of the packet to be transmitted, is assigned to the default IP address by reading the next address of the DAT table and repeating the steps from (603)(607).
