System and Method for managing open type electronic library

PURPOSE: A method for operating an open-type electronic library is provided to basically prevent piracies and magnify advertising efficiency, by supplying an opening advertisement, a banner advertisement, an intermediate inserting advertisement, and an ending advertisement in stages when electronic books are read on-line or off-line. CONSTITUTION: A method for operating an open-type electronic library comprises the steps of: if a client connected on the internet or a wireless communication terminal user mounting a web browser connects to the electronic library, checking whether the client or the user is registered from a member information database; displaying lists of processed/stored books from a books information database; if the client or the user selects a book from the lists, displaying bibliographic information related to the selected book from the books information database; deciding whether the selected book has to be downloaded or read; if the book is read, deciding whether a bookmark is set up in the book from member information of a read information database; if not, setting up an initial page number as '1', and if the bookmark is set up, setting up a corresponding page number as the initial page number; supplying advertising information to the client or the user from an advertising information database to display the advertising information, while reading contents of the initial page number from a text contents database and a voice contents database; if the reading process for the contents is completed, simultaneously displaying the corresponding contents and a banner advertisement; and deciding whether the reading process has to be continued, and if so, adding one more page number, and if the added page number is same or less than a final page number, moving to a corresponding page.
