PURPOSE: A structure of an air channel of a window type air conditioner is provided to prevent discharge of suction air of an indoor space to a room but discharged outside via an outdoor space when the air conditioner is operating in a defrosting mode, thereby maintaining a pleasant condition in a room. CONSTITUTION: A structure of an air channel of a window type air conditioner includes a shut-off plate(57) for dividing an inside of the air conditioner into an indoor space(I) mounted with an indoor heat exchanger(52) and an indoor fan and an outdoor space(O) mounted with an outdoor heat exchanger and an outdoor fan, a first opening and closing element(61) mounted on the shut-off plate for communicating the indoor and outdoor spaces together for circulating air in the indoor space to the outdoor space, and a second opening and closing element mounted at an air discharge hole(59) of the indoor space for preventing discharge of air in the indoor space to a room via the air discharge hole.
