PURPOSE: An E1/T1 VPM(Voice Processing Module) using a DSP(Digital Signaling Processor) chip is provided to reduce a board area by processing PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) data processing function for one T1 or E1 link on one board. CONSTITUTION: A number of DSP chips(1) can accommodate process two T1 or E1 channels. A vocoder controller(3) de-multiplexes data incoming from a terminal exchange interface module(12) and switch module(13) by means of a de-multiplexer and transmits the data to the DSP chip(1). Also, the vocoder controller(3) multiplexes data from the DSP chip(1) by means of a multiplexer and transmits the data to the terminal exchange interface module(12) and switch module(13). A microprocessor(4) controls the entire VCM board, performs the initializing and state controlling functions for the DSP chip(1), and performs a function for initializing the function of vocoder controller(3). A RAM(6) and flash memory(5) are used to store an application program and data. A state indicating LED(9) and debug port(8) are used to monitor the state of the board, initialize, and change the function.
