PURPOSE: A method is provided to improve trunk transmission efficiency between a control center and a base station in digital mobile communication system by varying a frame length according to data transmission rate. CONSTITUTION: A transmission rate of packet is detected upon the reception of audio or data packet from a vocoder of a control center. Varying the frame length based on the transmission rate of the detected packet creates an audio/data field. Writing of each field creates a frame and the created frame is transmitted to a channel card connector of the base station. Upon the reception of acknowledge for the transmitted signal from the base station, a decision is made to check if there is audio/data packet received from the vocoder. If so, the control process returns. Otherwise, it is terminated.
