FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with measurement of displacement of flat grounded surfaces and vibrations, pressures, thickness of metal straps and similar values related to displacement. Converter has two electrodes, high- and low-potential. Length of high- potential electrode is greater than that of low-potential one by value exceeding double distance between them. Both electrodes are manufactured in the form of plates placed one in parallel to another and perpendicular to moving grounded surface. Shield electrodes of same height forming two common plates with potential electrodes are positioned above end face of each electrode. Two guarding electrodes are located on sides of end faces of plates of low-potential and shield electrodes. Characteristic of transducer is linearized under end faces of shield electrodes.
