FIELD: analysis of soil and surface water for contamination with nitrates and nitrites. SUBSTANCE: biosensor includes immobilized and stabilized layer of ferments 11 covered with translucent membrane 13; it is placed in sample 15 for study of aqueous solution. Cable 19 is connected to one end of layer of ferment 11; other end is connected to photodetector 23 built in luxometer 25. Nitrate or nitrite ions are restored in sample 15 by means of layer of ferments 11. As a result, photons are obtained. Number of photons is measured of concentration of ions of nitrite or nitrate. Photons are detected by means of photodetector 23. Output signal from photodetector is furnished to indicator 29 calibrated in levels of concentration of detected nitrite or nitrate ions. Besides that, biosensor of another construction employs immobilized layer of ferment as part of luxometer, therefore no cable is required.
