The protection system detects information relating to the patient entering the toilet at spaced intervals during the use of the toilet, until the patient leaves the toilet, with evaluation of the information for automatic initiation of an emergency assistance call. The information is provided by a number of signal sources (2,3,4) within the toilet cubicle (1) and supplied to an electronic evaluation device (5) within the latter, having a logic memory and a microcontroller for initiating the emergency assistance call when a maximum time interval is exceeded.
