Attachment of splicing connectors to ends of plastic conveyor belts including screening belts

Surfaces (13) of the conveyor belt (12) ends, are profiled by applying pressure, with or without heat. The profiling matches that of the connector (20). This allows the outer surfaces (21) of the connector to lie flush with the conveyor belt surfaces. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding connector. Preferred features: The belt is perforated locally by hot broaching pins, forming holes through it. The pins are inserted at a definite angle with respect to the normal to the belt surface. A countersunk depression (28) is made in the connector, around the holes. A rivet (25) through the holes, joins the connector to the belt, leaving an open eye at the end (22). Rivet and/or connector are adhered to the belt. Free ends of the rivets are heated and mushroomed. The rivet is made of deformable plastic.
