An improved method of logical steps for conjugation (modification) of (bacterial) (capsule-)polysaccharides (CPS) to generate T-cell dependent conjugates, which may be used to induce a polysaccharide-specific humoral immune response and in higher organisms, when used as a vaccine, to generate a protective immune response against a causative agent, which expresses these CPS or serologically cross-reactive CPS, characterized in that the affected CPS is generated to have periodic aldehyde function statistically distributed through mild oxidation.
