Useful echo and clutter determination method for distance sensor, e.g. level detector

The method involves determining Na and Nb single echo with corresponding distance measures (da1, da2,..daNa; db1,db2,...dbNb) from first and second echo profiles (Epa,Epb) of first and second measurements, respectively, whereby the number Na and Nb of single echo is at least two. Single echo of the second echo profile are allocated to single echo of the first echo profile which are provided by the same reflecting object using echo tracking. A speed measure is determined for Zp tracked single echo representing the difference of distance measures of two echo generated by the same object, whereby Zp is at least two. The speed measures of different single echo are compared and the result is used for an echo evaluation.
