Bolt welding apparatus for a usual, commercially available spot-welding machine

The apparatus includes a cup-shaped carrier element (18) housing a flanged cylindrical insert (20) which is axially slidable against a spring force. The depression (35) in the cup bottom accommodates a copper welding element (30). A jig (36) for positioning the workpiece (37) is fixed to the cup bottom. The insert (20) is fixed to the spot-welding machine. A changeable seating bolt (25) serves for positioning of the bolt to be welded to the workpiece. The carrier element (18), the insert (20), and the seating bolt electrically insulated in a conventional manner. A pressure plate (7) is attached to the welding piston of the spot-welding machine by means of a water-cooled holding unit (9).
