One or more tear resistant securing elements(2) attached to the visible insert(1) are connected to the carrier part(4) such that an uncontrolled detachment of the insert is prevented during sudden airbag inflation. Independent claims are made for: a) a process for manufacturing the plastic insert(1) in which a securing element(2) is placed in an injection mold and is secured by the injected plastic; b) an air bag cover with a securing member. Preferred Features: The securing element length ensures that when the insert disintegrates the pieces are held together and remain connected to the carrier(4).
