A fuel injector for an IC engine has two parallel jet systems incorporated into a single injector module. A main jet (8) is operated as a conventional needle valve and injects the fuel into the engine. A second jet is operated by hydraulic pressure via a valve (12) and supplies a second fluid into the engine, via one or more open jets (9). An optimum layout has three jets evenly spaced about the injector head.
