Supporting cable structure for roofs etc has tensile or compression element mounted across and between two pretensioned cables which are connected to common pretension element to take up forces to balance out outside loads
A tensile or compression element (10) is mounted across and between two pretensioned cables (2, 4) to transfer external loads to the cables whereby an increase in the cable force by a certain amount in one cable causes a reduction of the cable force by a corresponding amount in the other cable. The cables are connected to a common pretension element (14) which takes up the transverse forces so that the increase in one cable force and reduction in the other are mutually eliminated in the active line of the pretension force. Two cables can be arranged symmetrical relative to each other so that the active lines of the cable forces run symmetrical to the active line of the pretension force.
