All profiles (57'-60') are gripped individually (115-118) and located for welding, in two coordinates (x, y). All grips then adopt the same third coordinate (z). An Independent claim is also included for corresponding equipment. Preferred features: Profiles are supplied on a conveyor belt in arrangement. Grips are held on telescopic arms fastened to carriages, running on bearers resting on rails, moving at right angles to the carriages. A variant of the method, in which the profiles are first welded, is also described.
