The method involves supplying a liquid to a dosing container (1), from which a subquantity of liquid can be extracted until a predefined sample quantity remains in the container to be delivered to a specimen container (2). When removing the subquantity, the extraction rate is measured and liquid continues to be extracted at this rate after detecting a level for an adjustable time, until the desired quantity remains in the dosing container. An Independent claim is also included for a liquid dosing arrangement.
