The method of starting up a fan burner consists of a fan for the combustion air, a burner control, a pre-heater for the oil and an appliance for improving the cold start properties, especially for adjusting the re-circulation of combustion gases near a mixer during the starting stage. The burner control fixes the variable starting conditions and or their duration from the temperature of the attached components and appliances. At least one reference value for the stationary operational state and inserted into the burner control is compared with the actual values. In relation to the temperature obtained the adjustment appliance for the re-circulation is preferably controlled.
