The U-base of the book back comprises a flat back profile part (2) and its U legs are both-sided connecting profiles (3). The connecting profiles are back-cut accommodation grooves, the groove longitudinal gap (11) of which is in the direction of the U-leg ends. The side parts (14) on at least one longitudinal edge (17) have a thickened formation (15), with which they are held in the back-cut groove areas.
