External lamp has an elongated lamp located in an approximately oval reflector arrangement along the lines of a reflecting pot covering the optical center point. Curved reflecting strips assembled out of individual beveled surfaces (11) extend from an outer edge bounding light exit opening of lamp, vertical to light exit opening to roof surface (12). The reflector arrangement has a first section and a second section displaced relative to the first one. An external lamp for lighting a strip-shaped section of land, especially a street, has an elongated lamp which is located in an approximately oval reflector arrangement along the lines of a reflecting pot covering the optical center point. It has a light exit opening on one side through which at least the predominant part of the light is radiated. It has curved reflecting strips assembled out of individual beveled surfaces (11) which extend from an outer edge bounding the light exit opening of the lamp in the direction vertically to the light exit opening to a roof surface (12). The reflector arrangement has a first section and a second section displaced relative to the first one. The reflecting strips form reflector contours when put next to one another, observed in cross-sectional planes parallel to the light exit opening. Their curvature, taking as a starting point an edge point in the region of the first section, decreases down to the second section. In the region of the first section rear reflecting strips are laid tangentially to a first circular section drawn around the optical center point, whose radius corresponds to 1.5 to 9 times the length of the illuminating lamp part. In the second section front reflecting strips are laid tangentially to a second circular section whose center point lies outside the optical center point and whose radius corresponds to 1.8 to 2.8 times the maximum distance of the optical center point from the outer edge of the reflector arrangement.
