In en eco-toxicological automatic test process, a test vessel (1) contains a quantity of fluid and a number of test organisms, especially Daphnia Magna (9). The test vessel (1) stands exposed to diffuse light. Light reflected from within the test vessel at other than 180 deg from the source, is detected and registered at different heights between the top and bottom of the vessel, at different positions around its circumference. The fluid may be continually replaced in a dynamic test, or consist of a sample which is not replaced within a static test.
