The fitting exchange unit is for cutting off material flowing through fitting and is principally for installation in above and below ground hydrants. It is formed from four parts - a bell (1) with a drum (3) formed on it, a bell (10) with a rib (13), a spindle (14), a rotary device (15) and a holding rib (17). The housing has a base (2) with an aperture (6) and over the aperture in the interior of the housing a cylindrical drum (3) with openings (5) is formed. On the housing a flange-type ring (9) with holes is incorporated. The bell is so shaped that it can be pushed over the drum and by means of sealing rings (4) positioned in cavities in the drum a secure seal is achieved. The drum has an opening (12).
