The appts. to condense a drawn sliver, free of any spinning twist, has a rotating drum to support the sliver between two clamping points. The outer mantle (14) of the drum has a support structure (21) for a thin mesh belt (24), which is stretched over openings (22) in the support structure (21) and over the suction slit (17) zone. The outer mantle (14) has a sufficient resistance strength at least at the clamping points (12,13). The support structure (21) has a ladder formation. The support structure (21) has a structured belt, mounted to the mesh drum (3). The mesh belt (24) is exchangeable.
