A hinged flap(6) is connected to the armrest(3) by a connecting rod(4) so that the armrest is lowered from its in-use position when the rear opening covered by the flap is opened. The flap is located in front of a cover(5a) which for closing off the opening is constructed in a rear wall(5) of the body. The connecting rod has a first link which on the rear side is connected stationary and on the front side connected to a rear pivot point on the armrest, and a second link connected on its rear side to the hinged flap above its pivot point, and on the front side connected to a second pivot point lying in front of the first when the armrest is pivoted forward.
