The separator has a container (1) of circular cross-section with an inlet (8) for the suction flow opening tangentially near the side wall, an outlet (19) for the suction flow at the top and a liquid filling through which the suction flow passes with the separator in operation. The inlet is above the level of the static liquid filling so it is always partly immersed in the static liquid filling and fully covered by the liquid when rotating.
