An analog test signal is digitalized by alias-spot scanning to detect Doppler frequency displacement in laser light irradiation reflected from particles and arising from an object in motion such as an earth satellite. The test signal also detects Doppler frequency shifts in a digital calculation based on the laser light irradiation. Higher frequency displacement or cyclic fold-over determined by a lower spot scan rate possibly far below a double Nyquist frequency is recalculated at a frequency actually occurring prior to the spot scanning. This occurs through reflecting the test signal already in digital form on the Nyquist frequency.
