An electromechanically operated window roller blind, especially for use in cars, has a winding shaft pre-tensioned in spring fashion in the winding-up direction to which one edge of a roller fabric is fastened. The other edge of the shaft is connected to a pull-bar that is located parallel to the winding shaft, whose distance to the pull-bar can be changed by mechanical means, driven by an electric motor. Parallel to the winding shaft is located a rotatable spindle (5) whose two ends are provided with threads. One end has a right-hand thread and the other has a left-hand thread. On these threads, positioning nuts (8) are located so that they execute longitudinal movements with the rotation of the spindle, whose direction is in opposition.
